AL East Weekly Recap

So for those of you who forgot, baseball season is in full swing. I know no one gives a shit due to the way the C's and B's have been playing whether it be a dominating series sweep or a heart-pounding, 7 game sudden death OT thriller. HOWEVER, the weather is finally getting nice out, my first softball game of the season is Sunday, and its getting time for the boys of summer to take center stage.....well as soon as the playoffs are done.

Boston (11-13): If you're a Sox fan, you have to be feeling pretty good right about now. The team is starting to fire on all cylinders. Sure they dropped 2 of 3 to Baltimore but shit happens and you can't get them all. Hell, I'd much rather look at the fact that they just polished off a sweet of the Halos out in Cali. Fucking JP and Rodger could have called all the Angels they wanted too, not even Mel Clark could have gotten a win that series. Whats sparked this turn around? In my opinion there are 3 main factors. 1) Back end of the rotation stepping it the fuck up. For the second week in a row, Dice-K and Lacky turned in great starts. Each went 8 scoreless in their respective starts. 2.) Jacoby is hitting the ball. Francono must be doing jumping jacks because finally someone is stepping up to take the lead off spot in the lineup. Who better then the guy you had there at the beginning of the year? 3.) Papleboner (sorry I had to, fucking hate him) is looking like himself from 2 years ago. Walking into the year it looked like he could be getting phased out and it would be Bard's time to shine, well apparently this lit a fire under this dude's ass because he is bringing it.

New York (14-8): Not a great week for the Yanks, but not horrible. No excuse for them not to sweep the Chi Sox, but Yankee fans can take alot of positive out of this week. The main thing to look at is their new apparent strong point.......dare I say it? I will....STARTING PITCHING!!! The big thing this year was that outside of CC they had no one who could pitch, well this week they all seemed to be hell bent on proving people wrong. CC did his thing with 2 wins, AJ went 8 allowing 1, Freddy tossed six more shutout innings, Ivan Nova went 6 1/3 allowing 1, and to top it off....Bartolo motherfucking Colon is in beast mode. He went 8 allowing 1 run and is somehow still defying the laws of science. Yea sure Mo and Raf each blew a save this week but they'll bounce back....you don't collect 567 career saves by sucking. The big issue for the Yankees is getting Brett Gardner and Jorge going. I have far more patience for Brett because he brings outstanding defense and speed to the team. Jorge is about as useful as a poopy flavored lollypop at this point.
