Ted Williams VS Tom Brady VS Bobby Orr VS Larry Bird
So in light of Cooper trying to steal yet another one of my posting themes, here is a real who would win that people might actually read. So here we go, some of the most iconic figures in Boston sports history lined up against one another.
Now some are gonna probably argue who's considered the greatest figure in each given sport, but here are my reasons:
Brady - as much as I am team Peyton, not even I can deny the guy's overall greatness. 3 rings, 2 MVPs, and a sweet flow. Plus, who else am i gonna put here, Steve Grogan? Ben Coats?...no contest.
Orr - the guy redefined the defense position in the NHL. What Gretzky was to forward, Orr was to defense.
Bird - Many might argue that Bill Russell was the greatest Celtics player, which I would agree with. However, no one in team history had the amount of fanfare that Bird had. The Ying to Magic Johnson's Yang. The epic battles between these two saved the NBA...until LeBron ruined it.
Williams - The best hitter of all time...period. If this guy didn't give 4 years out of the prime of his career to serve in WWII and the Korean War who knows what he could have done. Easily would have passed Ruth for the all time HR record.
So what happens if these guys fight??? Well here's how I see it. First to go is Brady. Not because I hate him, but because hes a modern day athlete. Hell, throw any modern day QB in his spot and they'd be the first to go. (With the exception of Vick who you know would be packin) QB's in today's game are pampered, protected, and pre-madonas. I mean, just look at that picture, none of these other guys would be got dead hugging a goat. No tuck rule to help him here against these true warriors. I see Orr chopping his dome off with a high sitck. Next to go is Larry. Sorry Bird man, you're as tough as basketball player can come...but you're still a basketball player. So Williams cracks you with that sweet, sweet swing of his. So here we go. Final two. The old school tough as nails hockey player vs. the devil-may-care, spit at my own fans, WWII and Korean War vet, baseball player. And honestly... gotta go with Teddy ballgame. Now I know everyone on this blog has a hockey obsession, but Ted Williams was an all-time badass...and Orr was Canadian. Plus, Orr's main advantage would come on ice and I can only assume this showdown went on in Fenway. Ultimately it came down to me having an over abundance of respect for a guy who left in the prime of his career to serve his country. So God Bless America, and God Bless Teddy Ballgame. I mean come on....check this shit out.
I agree Secondini but, I think Bird might have gone out first. He always had back injuries and I think that might have been a disadvantage for him.
ReplyDeleteMagic Johnson can thank his "yang" for that positive HIV test.
ReplyDeleteRob....are you suggesting Larry Bird Gave Magic Johnson aids??????? You're fucked man...
